Bulgaria’s baseload electricity demand is supported by a reliable mix of high-capacity generation sources. This diversified portfolio guarantees consistent supply throughout the day and across seasons. To respond to short-term fluctuations and peak demand, Bulgaria relies on flexible assets, which can quickly adjust output to maintain grid stability. Together, these systems create a resilient national energy infrastructure capable of adapting to shifting consumption needs.

Within this framework, Nomad serves as the ideal intermediary, seamlessly linking producers with consumers. By understanding the requirements of both sides, we ensure that energy flows are not only efficient and secure, but also aligned with market dynamics and customer needs across Bulgaria and the wider CEE region.

Our power management expertise

At Nomad, we work with a broad and diverse network of energy producers, ensuring that electricity among the suppliers we have different sources is traded, balanced, and delivered efficiently.

Natural gas

Natural gas provides a reliable backbone of baseload power while offering flexibility to adapt to short-term fluctuations in demand. Its lower CO₂ footprint it an essential bridge in the transition toward a low-carbon energy system, and with high-efficiency technologies, it supports both stability and sustainability.

Biomass

We manage electricity generated from biomass fuels, which transform agricultural residues into clean power. Biomass is renewable, dispatchable, and dependable, providing steady baseload energy while also supporting rural economies and reducing emissions.

coal

Coal remains an important contributor to Bulgaria’s baseload stability. With advanced filtration and emission-control technologies, coal-fired plants continue to deliver consistent output while supporting grid reliability during the ongoing global energy transition.

Solar

As a fast-growing part of our portfolio, solar energy provides zero-emission power. When paired with battery storage, solar energy becomes flexible, storing surplus electricity for peak demand or low-sunlight periods. Scalable and low-maintenance, it reduces reliance on fossil fuels and supports long-term sustainability.

Nuclear

Nuclear power is a cornerstone of Bulgaria’s energy mix, offering constant and large-scale electricity production. With long fuel cycles and advanced safety systems, it provides unmatched baseload stability and long-term energy security.

Hydropower

Hydropower both baseload power and grid flexibility. With pumped-storage systems, hydro functions as a natural battery — storing excess energy and releasing it during peak demand to keep the grid balanced.
